Darts as a Sport

Predecessor of darts is the game that sailors have played during long journeys and they would play it by throwing knives into the botom panel of an barrel and like that they simulated some sort of a target and dart, so says the legend but it evolved from training sessions that english horseman used to prepair for tournametnts, competitions or military campaignsin in Middle Ages.
Darts as a game became popular through dinasty Tudor, particulary when King Henry VIII ruled.
Present day darts game look evolved in England during 19th. century and becomes popular in the beginning of 20th century.
Darts game was played in public places and pubs. As the player number raises the first sport organisations are starting to show up.
Those organisations are gathering players and organising tournaments.The first traditional tournier dates from year 1927. and it was called “New of the World”.
In year 1948 there was over 300.000 players on a tournier in England. In early 70-s only in G.Britain there was over 5.000.000 dart players.
Over the years national organisations have evolved then came europe and world dart federation.The first electronic darts device emerged in early 80-s.
Those electronic devices for a target used an perforated plastic round panel in wich darts were thrown. New in relation with traditional darts were changed from steel into plastic so Electronic darts became even more popular among players because it was more simple, attractive and had a whole new dimension.
Nowdays popularity of electronic darts is constantly raising and all traditional darts players are starting to play electronic darts.
National and international federations of players have noted constant raising newcomming players and tournaments.
EDU (European Dart Union) embraces most of W-I countries and a good part of central Europe countries.
Tendention of electronic darts sport is to be accepted into oplimpical family as an olimpic sport.
Many national federations are accepted in their national olimpic alliances.
We want that the electronic darts becomes an olimpic sport and we attend to realize that trough following years.
